1. Braiding Style
The style of braids you’re planning plays a significant role in how many packs you’ll need:
For Knotless, Box Braids, & Cornrows
Small/Medium Braids
- Shoulder Length: 2 packs of 3 bundles
- Mid-Back Length: 3 packs of 3 bundles
- Hip Length: 3 packs of 3 bundles
Jumbo Braids
- Shoulder Length: 2 packs of 3 bundles
- Mid-Back Length: 3 packs of 3 bundles
- Hip Length: 3 packs of 3 bundles
2. Hair Length
The longer your desired braids, the more hair you’ll need
3. Hair Density
Your natural hair’s density can also affect the number of packs required:
- Thin to Medium Hair: Stick to the lower end of the pack range
- Thick Hair: Consider adding 1–2 extra packs
4. Braider’s Technique
Your stylist’s technique can influence the number of packs used. Some stylists prefer smaller sections, requiring more hair, while others use larger sections, needing fewer packs. Consult your stylist for their recommendation.
